For a family stay in Jungmun, an attractive pool photograph answers less than a packing question: can your child use the float they already know? The Shilla Jeju prohibits personal swimming equipment, including floats. LOTTE HOTEL JEJU limits float use to its indoor infant pool. Both have indoor swimming facilities, but they do not offer the same arrangement for a child who depends on familiar equipment.
This comparison uses official indoor-pool and room information checked on 1 November 2026. Rules for outdoor pools, including Lotte’s He:on, are not carried across to the indoor pool. With no travel dates or children’s ages specified, there is no quoted room price, availability promise or assumption that a particular family fits any room.
Start with the equipment your child needs
If bringing a familiar personal float is essential, Shilla’s prohibition is an immediate selection criterion. A hotel offering float rental does not mean it also accepts your own float. Lotte’s wording needs equal care: permission in the infant pool does not extend to every part of the indoor swimming facility. Establish whether that particular area suits the way your child wants to play before choosing a room.
Think about what happens without the familiar float. A child comfortable with a life jacket and an accompanying adult may adapt readily; another may refuse to enter. Ask about the type and availability of the hotel’s equipment rather than treating a published rental list as a stock guarantee. Neither a float nor a life jacket removes the need for adult supervision.
Both hotels require swim caps as well as swimwear. Decide whether to pack a properly fitting cap and goggles or enquire about rentals. These small items can matter more than an extra toy in the suitcase. Pool admission, allowed equipment and the child’s comfort are separate questions, and a useful hotel choice has to satisfy all three.

The Shilla Jeju: leave personal floats at home
Shilla’s indoor pool is on level 1 (1F), with published hours of 07:00 to 23:00, for staying guests. Personal floats, fins and snorkelling equipment are among the personal swimming equipment that cannot be brought in. Do not reinterpret this as a ban only on oversized floats. If using your own equipment is non-negotiable, select on the basis of the published rule rather than hoping for an exception on arrival.
The official per-use rental list gives KRW 9,000 for swimwear, KRW 3,000 each for a swim cap and goggles, and KRW 5,000 for a float. Life jackets are available to borrow free, and the provided kickboards may be used. A child who needs a particular float shape still needs an enquiry about the available type and fit. No unverified size or brand is recommended here.
Anyone under 130 cm must wear a life jacket and use the pool with an adult guardian. This is a height condition, so a child’s swimming ability does not replace it. Children under 36 months need both swimwear and a swim diaper. Keep spare diapers and dry clothes accessible instead of putting every change at the bottom of the main suitcase.
Swimwear and caps are required; T-shirts and aqua shoes cannot be worn in the pool. Strollers cannot be brought in either. For a family with a baby, it helps to decide who carries the child and who carries the swimming bag. If a particular garment is unclear, send the hotel its details rather than assuming an ordinary T-shirt counts as swimming attire.
The late closing time may suit a short swim after a nap or dinner, but the timetable includes pauses. There is a ten-minute rest from fifty minutes past each hour, plus basin cleaning from 13:00 to 13:30 and 17:00 to 17:30. Count changing and showering time before deciding how much swimming fits into the evening. A published opening period is not an uninterrupted swim session.

Lotte Jeju: floats belong in the infant pool
Lotte’s indoor pool is on the eighth floor of the banquet building and publishes hours of 06:30 to 20:00. It is free for staying guests and is listed for all ages, with children accompanied by a guardian. These are indoor-pool conditions. An outdoor He:on photograph or timetable cannot establish when the indoor facility will be usable.
The decisive float rule is the location: floats may be used only in the infant pool. Beach balls, fins and snorkelling equipment are prohibited. The official wording checked does not establish a one-metre diameter limit or blanket approval for every personal product. Send a photograph of your proposed float and your child’s age if the equipment determines whether you book.
Swimwear and caps are required, and children under 36 months need swim diapers. Life jackets and kickboards are provided free. Published paid rentals are swimwear at KRW 9,000 and goggles or caps at KRW 3,000 each, available for the indoor pool only. A float is not added to that rental list here: ask directly if you intend to travel without one.
The regular closure is the first Tuesday of each month, subject to operational changes. When indoor swimming is the reason for the stay, check this before comparing room rates. Another pool being open may not replace the indoor arrangement your family needs. For a stay spanning Tuesday, decide which day the swim is meant to happen rather than treating a night at the hotel as automatic pool access.
From 37 months, children use the changing room with a guardian of the same sex. A parent travelling alone should clarify the practical arrangement before booking. Filming in the pool and changing rooms is prohibited. Planning how to wash, dry and return to the room with the child is more useful than assuming a pool photo session will be possible.

Match the beds as carefully as the pool
Similar floor areas do not mean identical sleeping arrangements. Shilla’s official room list describes Deluxe rooms at 40 m² with double, twin, family twin comprising a double plus a single, and ondol options. Mountain, garden and sea views are listed separately. The full room name matters more than a generic Deluxe label or the number of beds visible in a gallery image.
The specific Lotte Deluxe Room page checked lists a family twin with a restricted view, 40.3 m² and a maximum occupancy of three. That is the condition for that page, not a rule for every Deluxe category. Do not mix it with separately named double or double-double rooms. The published maximum also does not replace confirmation of the children’s ages and the bedding terms in your selected rate.
Draw up who sleeps in which bed before paying for a view. If a cot, bed guard or extra bedding is necessary, enquire about availability and any charge; none is assumed to be free here. Enter every traveller and the actual children’s ages in the booking form. Keep the hotel’s answer alongside the rate conditions so that an attractive pool does not obscure an unsuitable sleeping arrangement.
Two swims in a day also mean wet clothing and a return to the room for rest. Floor area alone says nothing about drying facilities or laundry provision. Gallery photographs show examples, not a guarantee of room assignment, bed spacing or child-safety equipment. The illustrated rooms must be compared again with the precise category on the confirmation.

Arrival evening and the day you check out
Both hotels are in Jungmun, Seogwipo, rather than beside Jeju Airport. A flight’s arrival time is not a pool arrival time: baggage collection, transfer, check-in and changing still come first. This article has not verified a transport timetable or a fixed transfer duration, so it does not build a late-evening swim around an invented journey time.
For an arrival-day swim, Shilla’s listed 23:00 closing and Lotte’s 20:00 closing can lead to different hotel choices. The child’s condition and any updated local instructions still matter. Early swimmers can compare Lotte’s 06:30 opening with Shilla’s 07:00. Check notices and any last-entry requirement for the actual stay date rather than treating the general hours as a promise.
Both publish pool use until 15:00 on checkout day, but Shilla requires entry before 13:00. This is not permission to keep the bedroom until the pool closes. After vacating the room, a swim requires a plan for dry clothes, wet bags, showers and the airport departure. Using every last pool hour is useful only when the rest of the journey still works.

Four questions before you book
First ask whether your child’s equipment fits the rule. Shilla means leaving personal floats out; Lotte means verifying the infant-pool restriction and the actual product. This is a more reliable starting point than a universal claim that one hotel is better for children. The right choice depends on which part of the family’s swimming routine cannot be changed.
Second, check the indoor facility on the actual date and ask about equipment stock. Lotte’s first-Tuesday closure and Shilla’s regular rests and cleaning periods belong in the plan. Rental prices are a dated service observation, not a promise of future charges or availability. Adjust the packing list to the hotel’s current answer if instructions change.
Third, compare the full room name and the rate. Child charges, breakfast coverage, extra bedding and cancellation deadlines need reading for the chosen booking. Without dates there is no defensible cheapest-hotel verdict or remaining-room claim. Match the photograph to the description, then match that description to the actual confirmation.
Finally, picture one adult moving, changing and washing the child. Equipment rules, stroller restrictions and changing-room ages alter the amount of help needed. Start with Shilla if hotel equipment and a later swim suit you; start with Lotte if the plan is specifically to use a float in the infant pool. Neither recommendation assumes unverified childcare or a guarantee of safety.
