A practical way to compare location

A hotel search result may say “five minutes from the station,” but that figure answers only one part of a location decision. In Shinjuku, the station name covers several operators, platforms, gates and exits. Which one matters depends on the train you arrive on and where your next journey begins. Before comparing hotels, write down the line and exit you are likely to use, then follow the route from that exit to the building entrance and on to the reception desk.

This guide compares Shinjuku Prince Hotel and Hotel Gracery Shinjuku through that sequence: station, exit, final leg with luggage, and the hotel’s actual reception floor. Think about your one-time airport arrival separately from the route you will repeat after sightseeing or dinner. A nearby airport-bus stop does not establish that a departure fits your flight, and a station walk estimate does not measure the trip from a platform to your room.

Choose a guide by how you arrive

Start with whether you carry your bags, send them separately, or arrive by car. The Milan article is a separate parking example, not another Shinjuku hotel option.

Compare the line and exit, not just the station name

Shinjuku has separate railway facilities for JR, Seibu, Tokyo Metro, Toei Subway and other operators. Compare the line and named exit in your itinerary, rather than relying on the station name alone.

This guide follows Japanese building signs: 1F is ground level, and 2F is the level directly above it. The hotel’s 8F label uses the same convention.

These are hotel-published walking references from named station or exit points; they do not measure the full journey from a train platform to the front desk.

Airport arrival and the last luggage leg

The journey from an airport depends on the airport, arrival terminal, date, time and the service you choose. Start with current airport and carrier information to confirm your terminal and the location of the rail station or bus stop. Then check transfers, luggage handling, reservation rules and the final walk as separate parts. This article does not select a fastest route or promise a travel time from an unspecified flight.

Both hotels describe the airport limousine stop at Tokyu Kabukicho Tower as about a two-minute walk away. Sharing a nearby stop is useful context, but it does not show that a bus will run at the time you land or have space for your party. Check the operator’s schedule for your date, the terminals served and whether you need an advance reservation. Keep the airport-to-stop journey separate from the walk from the stop to your hotel; together they are not necessarily a direct hotel transfer.

With bags, the useful question is what happens on the last leg: which exit, what street crossing, how far to the hotel’s actual entrance, then where to go inside. A street image or map pin does not show current construction or crowding. If you plan to ask about luggage delivery or storage, confirm the hotel’s current service and terms directly; proximity alone does not promise either service.

The route you will repeat

An airport transfer happens once; the return after a day out or dinner may happen repeatedly. Note the last destination and the line you expect to use each day, then identify the station and exit where you will arrive.

The hotels are in different buildings in Kabukicho. Use the table above to match the line and exit you expect to use with each hotel entrance and reception step.

For a recurring return, check the entrance for your route and save the hotel name and address to share with your group.

From the street to the reception desk

Reaching the right building is not the same as reaching reception. Check which side of the building contains the hotel entrance, where to take the elevator and which floor holds the front desk. Prince lists a Bell Captain Desk on 1F, but that listing alone does not make it the check-in counter or confirm any luggage-storage terms. Verify a service separately if you need it.

Gracery’s front desk is on 8F. Its detailed official directions describe walking to the hotel entrance and then taking the hotel elevator. This tells you there is an indoor step after the street walk; it does not certify step-free access, elevator availability or crowding. If a particular entrance or mobility arrangement matters to your party, send the hotel your exact need and date and ask about the route.

Shinjuku Prince Hotel

The clearest location feature of Shinjuku Prince is that it shares a building with Seibu-Shinjuku Station. If your train arrives at or departs from that Seibu facility, the building relationship may make the last leg easier to plan. The station is on 2F of the building; do not read that as the hotel room or reception floor. Once inside, follow the hotel’s current directions to check-in.

Prince should not be judged only from JR Shinjuku. Its official directions list different approaches from JR East and West, subway exits, and the Odakyu and Keio sides. The Japanese page gives route-specific estimates, including about five minutes for several exits and about two minutes from Toei Oedo Shinjuku-nishiguchi D3. Those reference times do not all start at the same platform or describe a single door-to-desk journey.

For an airport limousine, Prince points to Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, about two minutes away on foot. The official page mentions airport services and advance booking. For your date, check the operator’s current timetable, terminal coverage and reservation requirements. A nearby stop does not guarantee a departure that fits the flight, nor does it say how bags move from the stop to your room.

Before choosing Prince, answer two practical questions: will you actually use Seibu-Shinjuku, or a different Shinjuku station exit; and where does the luggage-carrying route begin when you reach the hotel building? That keeps the benefit of the Seibu connection in view while still accounting for the separate route from other lines.

Hotel Gracery Shinjuku

Gracery’s official directions distinguish the station points used for its walking estimates. Match the one your itinerary uses to the entrance and 8F reception route in the table above.

At the building, add the indoor step: Gracery’s front desk is on 8F, reached through the hotel entrance and elevator. Count that separately from the street estimate. The floor information describes the hotel’s layout, not a promise about room assignment, luggage help or elevator conditions. The lobby and room photographs show examples of the property; they do not guarantee which room type a booking will provide.

Gracery also lists Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, about two minutes away, for airport limousine access. As with Prince, the current operator schedule and reservation terms determine whether that stop works for an arrival. Check the airport-to-stop journey and stop-to-entrance walk as separate legs; neither hotel’s short walk makes the bus a guaranteed door-to-door service.

To decide whether Gracery fits, choose which return point matters more to your plans, JR East Exit or Seibu-Shinjuku, and include the indoor elevator trip to the 8F desk. Picking the smaller of the two published figures as the overall winner would leave out the luggage, direction, entrance and reception steps that shape the actual arrival.

Choose for your itinerary

Make a simple itinerary comparison. Write down the arrival airport and transport, the railway operator and exit you expect to use, then the hotel entrance and reception floor. Add the line you are likely to use for recurring returns. Once those details are visible, the official hotel directions can be compared against the route your trip will actually take.

Prince may fit better when the Seibu-Shinjuku Station building connection is the key convenience. Gracery may fit when its separate JR East Exit and Seibu estimates match your usual route and you are comfortable adding the trip to its 8F front desk. These are conditional decision rules, not a general ranking or a claim that one hotel works for every traveler.

Before booking, reopen the official access pages and check the airport bus operator’s current schedule and reservation rules, then review the exact room price and cancellation conditions on the booking page. If a mobility or assistance requirement is essential, ask the hotel about the exact route and date. This comparison helps interpret location information; it does not verify service, accessibility or conditions on the day.
