Start with where the skis and boots go overnight
After a day on the mountain, a hotel’s equipment arrangements can shape the next morning. The useful distinction is not simply whether a property mentions a drying room. One option may give you a locker assigned to your room, with a boot heater; another may provide a drying room as a shared facility. Neither description tells you where wet clothing, gloves or helmets can be dried. Those are separate questions to ask before booking if they matter to your group.

This comparison looks at SANSUI NISEKO and Niseko Park Hotel in Hirafu. SANSUI says guests receive a ski locker assigned to their room for exclusive use during the stay, and that each locker includes a boot-heating system. Niseko Park Hotel lists a ski drying room among its facilities. Its FAQ places that room at the level marked 1F in the Nupuri Wing and also directs guests there for ski and snowboard waxing. The pages describe two different arrangements, so the comparison separates personal assignment, boot heating, access hours and the room you may actually receive.
I checked the hotels’ official information on 4 November 2026. This article does not compare prices or availability for particular dates and party sizes. Where a public page does not state an operating condition, I leave it as a question for the hotel instead of assuming the answer. A photograph can show the appearance of a facility or room; it cannot guarantee access at a particular time or confirm that an online booking will be assigned to that exact room type.
| What to check | SANSUI NISEKO | Niseko Park Hotel |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment facility | Room-assigned locker beside the ski rental area | Ski drying room at the level marked 1F in the Nupuri Wing |
| Boot heating | Boot-heating system in each locker | No individual assignment or boot heater is specified in the public description |
| Published hours | Lockers: 24 hours | Drying-room hours are not stated in the pages reviewed |
| Rental | Basement rental centre with conditional hours | No hotel rental service; contact Winter First directly |
“Not specified” does not mean a feature is absent. It means the official pages reviewed do not describe it. If a boot heater is essential, or if you plan to arrive before check-in or ski after check-out, ask the hotel about those exact dates and times. A promise of access during a stay should not be stretched to cover the hours before or after it.
SANSUI NISEKO: choose it when an assigned locker and boot heater matter
SANSUI places its ski lockers next to the ski rental area. The hotel says it assigns a locker to each guest room for exclusive use during the stay. Every locker has a boot-heating system, which the hotel says is intended to leave ski and snowboard boots dry and warm for the morning. For a pair planning to leave equipment in one known place and put on warmed boots the next day, those are concrete operating details rather than a general promise that equipment can be stored somewhere.

The lockers are listed as open 24 hours. That gives late returns and early starts a wider window on the schedule. The same page limits the assignment to the stay, however, so it does not confirm that guests can use the locker before the room is ready or after checkout. If your ski day falls on your arrival or departure date, ask when the locker assignment begins and ends. The published description also does not say whether clothing, gloves or helmets can be placed in the locker or dried there.
The hotel describes a ski-in/ski-out entrance linked directly to the Grand Hirafu Family Course. It places the Ace Gondola 150 metres from the hotel. These details help explain the starting point for a ski day, but they do not establish that a lift or course will operate on your date. Snow, opening status and lift hours are separate seasonal information. The focus here is the hotel’s equipment storage and boot preparation.
The basement Ski Rental Centre is listed as open 08:00–17:00, or 08:00–19:30 when night skiing is available. The later closing time is conditional; it should not be read as the daily schedule. If you want to collect rented equipment, arrange a boot fitting or speak with the ski school at the hotel, check the schedule for your visit and whether it lines up with your booking. The site still shows 2025/26 rental prices and says 2026/27 prices are coming soon, so last season’s figures should not be treated as the next season’s rate.
Room setup matters during a longer stay, although it is separate from the locker. The Studio Room is listed at 25–45 m² for two guests, with a king bed or twin beds, a kitchenette and a washer-dryer. The One Bedroom Suite is 56–69 m² for two guests and has a separate bedroom and full kitchen. The official Studio description explicitly names the washer-dryer. The One Bedroom description does not specify a washer-dryer, so this comparison does not assume that it has one.

A larger floor area does not guarantee more room for ski equipment inside the apartment. Both listed room types have a capacity of two; that information does not support adding extra guests. Confirm the exact room name, requested bed arrangement and locker assignment in the booking terms. A boot heater in the ski locker and laundry equipment in the room serve different needs. Guests who also need to dry outerwear should ask where that can be done.
SANSUI’s FAQ lists check-in at 15:00 and checkout at 12:00. Early arrival and late checkout are subject to availability. The hotel describes limited underground parking with a fee, so drivers should confirm space and price. Kutchan Station is listed as about 8 km away, with the hotel estimating a 15-minute drive. SANSUI says hotel-car pickup and drop-off can be arranged by prior reservation. That is an advance-booked car service, not a published fixed shuttle timetable; ask the reservations team about the available time and charge before arranging a train connection.

SANSUI is the clearer match when you value an assigned locker, a boot-heating system and 24-hour access during the stay. Its Studio also has an explicitly listed washer-dryer for a two-person trip. Questions remain about access before check-in or after checkout, and about drying clothing or other equipment. Confirm those separately rather than treating the boot locker as an all-purpose drying room.
Niseko Park Hotel: check the drying room and room assignment together
Niseko Park Hotel lists a ski drying room in its facilities. Its FAQ says to use the drying room at the level marked 1F in the Nupuri Wing when asking where to wax skis or snowboards. The room is therefore identified as a place for drying equipment and waxing. The pages reviewed do not state a boot heater, a personal locker assigned by room or the drying room’s opening hours. Treat each point as something to confirm with the hotel if it will affect your choice; the missing details do not prove that a feature is absent.

The hotel’s separate “locker room” entry describes two large luggage-storage spaces and changing rooms for men and women. It is not a description of individual ski lockers assigned to guest rooms. The ski drying room appears under a separate facility entry. This distinction matters when reading translated facility names or photographs: “locker room” can mean a place to leave luggage or change, while a drying room is the space the hotel identifies for ski equipment.
For luggage before check-in or after checkout, the FAQ says the hotel keeps it in the large room and asks guests to speak with the front desk. That confirms luggage storage, not continued access to the ski drying room or storage of skis and boots outside the stay. Check-in is listed from 15:00 to 22:00, with checkout at 10:00. If you expect to arrive late, check the booking instructions and contact conditions for your reservation.

Niseko Park Hotel’s official FAQ says the hotel does not provide a pick-up service. Arrange transport separately instead of assuming a hotel vehicle is included.
Rental is another difference to settle before travelling. Niseko Park Hotel says it does not offer an in-house ski or snowboard rental service. It recommends contacting Winter First directly and says the hotel cannot make the rental reservation for a guest. If you plan to collect equipment near the hotel or arrive without gear, confirm the rental shop’s current availability, collection process and opening times yourself. This comparison does not state a price or stock level for Winter First.
The room information needs the same care. The official page lists a New Wing Twin room for two people, with a bathroom and toilet in the room, and says it cannot accommodate three or more. The page reviewed does not give its floor area. A Main Building Japanese-style room is listed for one to four guests but has no bathroom or toilet in the room. The bathroom arrangements differ across the hotel’s room types; one room description should not be applied to all of them.

Under the Main Building Japanese-style room entry, the official page lists capacity for one to four guests, no in-room bath or toilet, and room allocation by guest count with no room-type choice. That note is attached to this room entry; it should not be generalized to every room at the hotel. The specific breakfast plan below lists selectable Yotei Wing room options. Check the exact room options shown for the offer you are booking.
The official booking engine checked on 4 November 2026 displayed a specific breakfast plan for stays from 11 December 2026 to 13 March 2027, for one or two guests. It listed non-smoking Yotei Wing Western-style and Japanese-style rooms as selectable options; both are listed for one to two guests with an in-room bath and toilet. These terms apply to that plan and stay period only. They do not describe every rate plan or establish date-specific availability. Recheck the actual selectable room and terms in the booking flow. No variable price is included.
Niseko Park Hotel may suit you if its shared drying room meets your needs and a personal boot heater is not essential. Confirm the drying-room access hours. If you need a bath and toilet in the room, check the selectable Yotei Wing option on the specific plan that lists those facilities. Do not extend the Main Building Japanese-style room note to every room or offer.
Check the equipment, arrival time and room before you book
The difference is more specific than “a place for ski gear.” SANSUI describes a locker assigned to the room, exclusive use during the stay, a boot heater and 24-hour hours. Niseko Park Hotel describes a drying room in the Nupuri Wing and does not publish those same assignment and heating details on the pages reviewed. Decide whether a warm boot in the morning is essential, whether you need a named personal space, and whether a shared drying facility would meet the trip’s needs.
Match the facility to your travel dates. If you plan to ski on arrival day, ask whether the equipment room is available before the room is ready. If you want to ski after checkout, ask whether you can still use the locker or drying room. A hotel’s luggage-storage option does not automatically include skis or boots, and it does not establish that equipment will be dried or accessible after checkout. Get a direct answer when your plans depend on it.
SANSUI’s FAQ places New Chitose Airport about 110 km away and estimates a two-hour drive in normal conditions or two and a half hours in winter. It also estimates about two and a half hours by JR to Kutchan Station. These are the hotel’s estimates, not a transport timetable or guaranteed journey time. Niseko Park Hotel says it offers no pick-up service. SANSUI’s car service requires advance reservation, so check current transport times and connections before setting out.

Specific questions are easier for the hotel to answer. Include your date and expected arrival or departure time, whether you have skis or a snowboard, whether you need to dry boots overnight, and whether you need access before check-in or after checkout. At Niseko Park Hotel, ask for the drying-room hours, whether a boot heater is available and whether the room can be used outside the stay. At SANSUI, confirm when the assigned locker can first be used and when access ends, and ask separately about clothing or gloves. Do not turn an unpublished detail into a certainty without a hotel reply.
Compare the room descriptions on the same basis. SANSUI lists its Studio at 25–45 m² for two, with a king or twin setup, kitchenette and washer-dryer; its One Bedroom Suite is 56–69 m² for two, with a separate bedroom and full kitchen. Niseko Park Hotel’s New Wing Twin is listed for two with an in-room bath and toilet, but the page reviewed gives no floor area. The allocation note appears under a separate Main Building Japanese-style room entry; do not apply it to the Twin or to every room at the hotel.
Before paying, match the dates, number of guests, room name, bed setup and cancellation or payment terms. This article gives no date-specific total or availability. SANSUI’s two room types have the same listed capacity but different layouts and kitchen or laundry details. The specific 2026/27 Niseko Park breakfast plan lists Yotei Wing Western-style and Japanese-style rooms as selectable options. Check the room and terms shown in the booking flow; that plan does not define the options on other offers.
SANSUI publishes more specific details for a trip where a room-assigned locker and boot heater matter. Niseko Park Hotel may suit you if its shared drying room is sufficient and its access hours meet your needs. If you need an in-room bath and toilet, check the selectable Yotei Wing option on the specific plan that lists those facilities. For either hotel, confirm access outside the stay and rental hours separately.
For a separate look at lift and gondola questions, see the Niseko Hilton guide to gondola access and lift-pass terms. That article covers a different decision and does not replace these hotels’ storage or drying-room conditions.
