Choose the room first when you want in-room laundry
If you are looking for a Fukuoka hotel with a washer in the room, compare Tokyu Stay Hakata with Tokyu Stay Fukuoka-Tenjin. Both properties list washer/dryers in their room tables, so laundry alone does not decide between them. The useful differences are the named room, floor area, stated capacity, kitchen equipment, bathroom layout and the station you will use most on the return walk.
An in-room washer can save a trip to shared laundry during a longer stay, but it does not mean every room includes a kitchenette or daily full housekeeping. Hakata lists a two-person twin with a mini-kitchen; Tenjin has a larger three-person Residential Twin with a separate bath and toilet. Start by deciding whether you need separate beds, a counter for simple cooking or enough room for a group of three.

Both Moderate Doubles are 18 m²
The two Moderate Double rooms are the closest like-for-like comparison. Each official table lists 18 m², capacity for two guests, a 160 × 200 cm bed, washer/dryer and microwave. Neither row lists a mini-kitchen. The published specifications do not support calling one room larger or better equipped for cooking. If two guests share a double bed and plan to eat out, use this as a baseline and compare station access and booking terms for your dates.
If you need two separate beds, choose a named twin category rather than assuming a double can be rearranged. A microwave is listed separately from a mini-kitchen, so consider whether you only need to reheat food or want a counter for simple cooking. The floor area and laundry equipment can match while the sleeping arrangement and kitchen row differ. Check the exact room name and bedding details in the offer you select.
| Property and room | Area · capacity | Equipment listed | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hakata · Moderate Double | 18 m² · 2 | Washer/dryer · microwave | No kitchenette listed |
| Tenjin · Moderate Double | 18 m² · 2 | Washer/dryer · microwave | Same baseline room |
| Hakata · Residential Twin | 24 m² · 2 | Washer/dryer · mini-kitchen · microwave | Bath/toilet separation not listed |
| Tenjin · Residential Twin | 30 m² · 3 | Washer/dryer · mini-kitchen · microwave · separate bath/toilet | Three guests does not mean three beds |
| Hakata · Deluxe Twin | 24 m² · 2 | Washer/dryer · microwave · separate bath/toilet | No kitchenette listed |
| Tenjin · Deluxe Room | 40 m² · 5 | Washer/dryer · mini-kitchen · microwave · separate bath/toilet | Five guests does not mean five beds |

At Hakata, the two 24 m² twins trade a kitchenette for a separate bath
Hakata Residential Twin is listed at 24 m² for two guests, with a washer/dryer, mini-kitchen and microwave. Its bed specification is 110 × 200 cm. Compared with the 18 m² Moderate Double, it adds six square metres and a listed cooking area while keeping the stated capacity at two. It suits two travelers who want separate beds and expect to prepare simple meals. Ask about cookware and tableware for this room category rather than assuming the mini-kitchen is a full home kitchen.
Hakata Deluxe Twin is also listed at 24 m² for two, with a 110 × 200 cm bed specification. Its equipment row shows a washer/dryer, microwave and separate bath and toilet; it does not list a mini-kitchen. Choose Residential Twin when its listed kitchenette matters, or compare Deluxe Twin when separating the bath and toilet matters more. The shared floor area does not make the two rooms’ facilities interchangeable.
If you will cook, confirm what utensils and dishes come with the selected category and whether they suit the meals you have in mind. If the separate bathroom layout is more important, look at the Deluxe Twin offer instead. In either case, match the official room category to the name shown in your booking result. A small kitchenette is a counter for simple preparation, not evidence of a fully equipped kitchen.
The kitchen photograph is a general example and is not tied to a named room category. Use the official equipment table and the selected offer to see which Hakata rooms list a mini-kitchen. For two guests who will return to Hakata Station and prepare simple meals in the room, the Residential Twin can combine laundry with a compact cooking area. For a larger party, start with a room whose published guest capacity fits.

Tenjin Residential Twin: 30 m², capacity three
Tokyu Stay Fukuoka-Tenjin lists its Residential Twin at 30 m² for three guests, with washer/dryer, mini-kitchen, microwave and separate bath and toilet. Compared with Hakata Residential Twin, it has six more square metres and a different published capacity. It is worth checking for three people who want cooking space and a separate bath area. Capacity for three is the allowed guest count, not a promise of three beds.
If each traveler needs an individual bed, inspect the bedding arrangement and any extra-bed terms in the date-specific offer. The bed-size entry in the official table does not confirm where each of three people sleeps. A room can include the laundry and kitchen you want but still be a poor fit if its bedding does not work for your group. For two guests who value extra space, compare floor area and bathroom layout before treating the three-person limit as decisive.
Tenjin’s smaller listed kitchen room is Residential Double: 19 m² for two guests, with washer/dryer, mini-kitchen and microwave. If you want separate beds but do not need a listed kitchenette, the 22 m² Comfort Twin is another two-person option. Its official row lists washer/dryer and microwave but no mini-kitchen. “Residential” does not by itself promise twin beds, and “Twin” does not establish kitchen equipment.
For a larger party, Tenjin Deluxe Room is listed at 40 m² for up to five guests, with a mini-kitchen, washer/dryer, microwave and separate bath and toilet. It differs from Hakata Deluxe Twin, which is 24 m² for two and whose row does not list a mini-kitchen. Do not use the shared word “Deluxe” instead of checking the property and full room name. A five-person capacity is not a promise of five beds; read the bedding and extra-bed terms in the selected offer.
The Tenjin photographs are examples labelled Moderate Double, Residential Double and Comfort Twin; they do not show the 30 m² Residential Twin layout. If that exact room’s sleeping arrangement matters, look for a booking image and bedding description that name it. Residential Twin is a useful starting point for a group that needs the listed kitchen and separate bath near Tenjin-Minami. For two people, compare the smaller rooms by beds and equipment.

Plan laundry and housekeeping separately
Tokyu Stay’s official FAQ says rooms with washer/dryers have Attack ZERO pump detergent. It does not give machine capacity or cycle time, so do not assume bulky clothes will dry in one load. Check the machine instructions and clothing labels after arrival. The washer can reduce what you need to pack, but leaving every load until the night before departure can still make the schedule tight.
Both properties say simple cleaning during a multi-night stay is by request: place the cleaning request sign outside the door. This service replaces towels and nightwear and collects rubbish. For stays of seven nights or longer, one full room clean is added each week; that includes bed-making, room cleaning, replenishing supplies and rubbish collection. This is not daily full housekeeping. Ask at check-in how to request service and plan your laundry around the schedule.
Tenjin and Tenjin-Minami are different stations
Hakata’s official access page lists a seven-minute walk from East Exit 5 at Hakata Station on the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line and eight minutes from the JR station’s Chikushi Exit. Those exits are on different sides of the station, so check which one fits your arrival line and luggage route. If stairs are difficult or you have several bags, check which station lift and street path you will use; the hotel’s time is a published estimate, not an access guarantee.

For Tenjin, keep the subway station names distinct. The hotel lists seven minutes from Tenjin Station Exit 16, three minutes from Tenjin-Minami Station Exit 6 and eight minutes from Nakasu-Kawabata Station Exit 1. The Tenjin Station Exit 6 shown here is a different place from the hotel-listed Tenjin-Minami Exit 6. Match the station name and line before planning from an exit number. The photograph is a station-area reference, not a hotel route.

The hotel’s English page lists Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station at about a six-minute walk. That is separate from the subway stops above. Compare the station you will use most and your return after dinner, not just the airport transfer. Bags, lift waits and street works can change the feel of the last section, so check the route for your dates.

Match the complete room name for your dates and party
Before reserving, match the property, full room category, guest capacity, bedding, kitchen and bathroom details in the same offer. Confirm that the page is Tokyu Stay Hakata or Tokyu Stay Fukuoka-Tenjin, then compare the name such as Moderate Double or Residential Twin with the official room table. Capacity is the permitted guest count, not the number of beds. Rates, availability and date-specific bedding were not checked for this comparison.
For two people who will use a kitchenette around Hakata Station, Hakata Residential Twin is a sensible starting point. For three who want the listed kitchen and separate bath near Tenjin-Minami, inspect Tenjin Residential Twin and confirm the sleeping arrangement. If you plan to eat out and an 18 m² double is enough, compare both Moderate Doubles by access and cancellation terms. Stay Chapter’s long-stay guide covers broader kitchen and housekeeping questions; Trip Fieldbook has a separate Hakata-versus-Tenjin area guide. This article focuses on room differences at these two hotels.
